Water container for winter

Is there anyone who has chickens in an area of the country that has severe winters that can tell me what kind of container for water to use?
This will be my first winter with them. This spring and summer I used one of those red and white plastic waterers. This Fall I changed to small, black, rubber bowls, with the idea they wouldn't crack if the water freezes and I could dump the ice out easily. I've noticed when my hen and rooster drink their wattles go into the water. It doesn't seem to bother them now but what will happen when the temperatures drop below freezing and into the single digits?
What kind of waterer works best in winter???

we use a large electric dog water bowl if you have access to electricity
Hi dball, Thanks! We do have access to electricity. Did you use this last winter successfully? It seems the wattles would still get wet. Would the wattles freeze or be uncomfortable do you think being wet in the very cold air?
