new with chickens so im still learning. One of my chickens at top of comb it was dark and it kept getting more and more black . She died and her whole comb was black??? Anybody know what that is???
hi there,i'm new to this site. I own some black rock hens and recently 1 of my girls has been getting a large lump in her neck whenever she eats, she seems to struggle swallowing like the food is getting stuck but it does not stop her from continuing to eat, after a little while the lump dissappears, have never seen this before, any suggestions would be fab.
blackrock, My chickens get lumps in their throats when they are eating grapes. My husband will give them to the girls whole. But I like to break them up. Its seems to be easier to swallow. I would think that your chicken is eating is too big. But since they are little piggies and its always a competion about the food they probably really don't care.:)
That's so sad. I understand that the comb shows dark spots from frost bite. How cold is it where you are?
