I have 18 hens of the 18 6 are older birds 5years old & the rest are 8months old .They stop laying in early Sept
I have added sunflower seeds to their food they are eating a commerical laying crumble. Could I be feeding them to little? they do not appear to be underweight.
They do have access to free range & they have fresh water daliy
What is the problem ?

18 chickens and not one is laying? Try feeding them tomatoes for a few days to cheer them up. Has it been very cold where you are? It could be that the older hens have stopped due to age and the younger ones are following them. Can you seperate them to see if that is the cause? Maybe it's time to break out the hatchet - I call mine Sunday Dinner when production slacks and that seems to motivate them somewhat. Good luck and keep us posted
