Fertilizing the garden

My chooks free range in the garden when I can keep an eye on them (otherwise they're in their spacious pen). They love to dig around in the dirt, enjoyed all the impatiens, eat bugs, snails, whathaveyou. If I use Miracle Grow (or some other fertilizer applied with garden hose) on the garden will it harm my chooks? These kids (3 girls, one boy and one ???) range from 4 -6 mo's old. The 3 girls are laying regularly. Thanks.

I'd start by reading on the Miracle Grow container to see what it says about fertilizing prior to harvest. Other than that, I'd give it a week after fertilizing, maybe less if it rains but no less than three days.
:droooling now:
I use droppings from my birds in my garden. I've got tomatoes this year that are bigger than a softball! I've never had tomatoes this big before! And yes, they are yummmmm-mmeee!!
Agreed! I would say that using chicken manure is better for plants than miracle grow! Whenever we change out our coop, we either toss the droppings and wood shavings in the compost, to dump them right on our garden beds. I don't think I've ever seen my mother use a bag of fertilizer!
