Analysis of Chicken Ordinances from 25 Cities

For this paper I evaluated residential chicken ordinances from 25 cities, in an effort to gain a better understanding of the common components of chicken ordinances. I will provide a brief summary of my findings below, and will post my full paper to the site after I edit it a few more times. (I got an A on the paper, but I am a perfectionist- sorry!)

Keeping Chickens in the City: How NOT to Ruin it for Everyone Else
Submitted by KT on Thu, 04/03/2008 - 20:07.The coordinator of the Just Food City Chicken Project, in New York City, recently sent me a chapter of their publication "The City Chicken Guide". This guide was designed to educate chicken keepers in NYC about a variety of topics including city regulations and proper chicken care. I pulled the following quote from the guide, as its message applies to urban chicken keepers everywhere.
"It is your right to keep chickens in New York City. It is also your duty to keep chickens within the limits of the laws."
